Losing weight requires the participation of your whole being. It is not all about dieting or sweating in the gym. It is actually more of a mental battle to continue striving for a healthier you. So here we give you seven easy tips to help manage your weight.

1. Evaluate you liquid or fluid intake

We often log and count the food that we eat but not the liquid because we thought they won’t hurt our diet.  What you don’t know is that these beverages actually have the highest calories, especially the carbonated and sweet ones. So just have water and natural fruit juices.

2. Move your body

You don’t need to lift weights, run in the treadmill or run to burn calories. Simply turn the music on and dance or sing your heart out. You should also engage yourself in physical yet recreational activities like biking, swimming, and walking your dog around. You will not only lose weight but you will also lower your stress level.

3. Change your plate’s size and color

Psychology says that if you want to lose weight , use a smaller blue plate. The color blue lessens your appetite while the red and orange ones increase it. A small plate can also trick your brain that you are eating many foods.

4. Track your food intake and record your progress

There are many free apps out there wherein you can log your food consumption. They also automatically calculate the safe weight loss program for you. They have a database of food products and recipes and their corresponding calories. All you have to do is be mindful of what you eat. Most of all, celebrate your progress, whether they are big or small. Reward yourself.

5. Stick to a realistic diet

We are living in an era where the information you need is just one click away. There are many diet fads but not all of them will work for you. You have to understand that our bodies are unique. If a diet does not work for you, don’ give up. Try another one or better yet, create your own. Consider factors like your budget, the availability of the ingredients, and of course, your ability to cook. Also, if you have medical conditions, please consult your doctor before trying a new weight loss diet.

6. Water is still the best drink

Water is so magical. It has zero calories but has minerals our bodies need. Aside from it gets you hydrated, it also makes you full easier. This can prevent you from eating more and therefore losing weight.

7. Sleep when you can

We still burn calories while we sleep (around 63 calories per hour). Though we are resting, our internal organs still continue to work so they use up calories. Sleep at least six to eight hours a day.
